A Bit about me

Colonel Pickering, My Fair Lady, Portland Opera USA

This year I’m celebrating 56 years in the entertainment industry! When I was a ‘serious’ singing student my singing teacher sent me for a pantomime audition. Got the job (still don’t know how) and that was my start to working in many different areas of the entertainment industry. Opera at Glyndebourne and with English National Opera, Musicals not only in the West End but all over England, Malaysia, and USA.

Music Hall, Television drama and situation comedy, films and straight theatre.

I was a founder member of the New D'Oyly Carte Company at the Savoy.

I am highly experienced in church and synagogue liturgy, also session work in recording studios across all genres of music, and my sight reading skills are excellent.

I teach singing on the Musical Theatre BA(Hons) course at TrinityLaban Conservatoire in glorious Greenwich. Many of my past students have gone on to success in the West End and International stages, and in films and television.

I also teach privately, preparing young students for entry into conservatoires, and helping amateurs who would like to be able to sing better, join a choir or amateur dramatic group.

I feel lucky at having been able to meet and work with the greats of the entertainment industry, Sir Tom Allen, Leslie Crowther, Arthur Askey, Sir John Tomlinson, Lynda Baron, Sir Simon Rattle, Trevor Nunn, Michael Ball, Hannah Waddingham
